Hello! I'm new and thought I'd pop in and say hi :).

I'm also looking for book recs of all kinds. My reading list is already much too long but, hey, why stop now? ;) Recs of any kind are appreciated-- though I especially love ancient and medieval historical fiction.

in an attempt to make this community alive again wildkoalameow and I have decided that perhaps it would be a good idea to have a "book of the month". So if you'd like to participate you could read the book, or perhaps you may have already read it. In this way, we'd know there's at least one book that community members could talk about. so if anyone has any comments or thoughts on this please share!

Great Book (Also Posted in my Journal) [09 Jul 2003|01:45pm]

I just finished The Live-Forever Machine, by Kenneth Oppel (who wrote Silverwing, Sunwing, and Firewing - also all good books!). It was absolutely fantastic.

Basically, in about 300 AD, two guys discovered the secret to immortality. The one guy, the older one, had never intended to use it, but the younger one (named Coil) did. Anyway, the younger guy began destroying the world, to put it simply. In order to create a balance, the older one became immortal, too, but dedicated his life to preserving the past.

And now, this kid named Eric meets Alexander, and learns that Coil wants to destroy him (Alexander, not Eric), so he has to try and stop him.

Long, badly-written review, I know, but go out and read it! It was amazing.

jedika ISA: and you should be a monitor person with us.

*waves* HI EVERYBODY! As you can see from the above conversation, I was forced into joining this community by Kaisa XD So here I am. I love reading in general, especially fantasy. And I just started this new series by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. Der series is called The War of Souls and I'm not sure what the title of the first volume is, but these books are amazingly good. Anybody ever read them?

So aanyway I was making up the "intrests" part for our community but was at a loss to come up with some great ideas. So tell me, what's your favourite book, author, etc.? Let's get this party started! :D
